June 10th 2010 - What´s new with Alicia??

We still feel very positive towards Alicia's training. We are now going two times a week since we are going to be away 5 weeks this summer. Alicia's trainer promised to write down some "homework" for us to do during the time we are in Spain. It feels good if we can do something every day at least so she doesn't forget. Yesterday when I went with her, her trainer said that she feels that Alicia has progressed. That she is stronger both when she sits up and also when she is standing. She tries to hold her body straighter. She also thought that Alicia is anticipating more in the exercises. It feels so good to hear that Alicia is actually getting something out of this and it's not just a waste of time... She is doing so good our little princess, she is a fighter!!

We bought an electrical toothbrush for Alicia. The speech therapist told us that it is good for her to use one because it stimulates her lips and tongue and the muscles will get stronger. She loves it and now she loves brushing her teeth. We will brush them and then she does it her self for sometimes 10 minutes.

Alicia is still moving around a lot in her walker. It's so good to see!

At daycare Alicia has a standing table that they use everyday. Since it is very good for Alicia to come up and stand on her legs and feet were going to have one at home also. She needs to put pressure on her hips, legs and feet and she doesn't do that in the walker. We will probably not get it until after the summer so first we will have some well earned vacation both for hard working Alicia and us!!

    Hi All,
There used to be an Ipana toothpaste commercial that went, "Brusha, brusha, brusha, with the new Ipana." When I saw Alicia's toothbrush picture, I immediately thought of that commercial. Anyway, She is really loosing her baby face and is turning into beautiful toddler! My she has grown. I am so happy she is improving her stamina. The doctors had said it would be slow but they didn't say it would never happen. And besides, only Alicia knows Alicia!!! You two have done a great job being her advocate. Keep it up!

I thought it was cute in the toothbrush picture, there's Damien in the dining room playing with his toys. Isn't it fun having two under 3 years of age! Keeps you young.

    Love,
    Mom L.
