April 11th 2012- Easter break

Last week was Easter break and all 5 of us were home together. The beginning of the week we spent at home. It included a lot of snuggling, playing and walks around the neighborhood.

On one of the days we made a fieldtrip to experimentarium in Copenhagen. This is a place with exhibitions, activities and demonstrations. There are many different experiments that you can try out, everything from how your body works, to wind and water, to reflections, to light and darkness and so on. It was a lot of fun and especially for Damien. Next time we are going it won’t be over break – it was packed with people…

For Easter weekend we went to Röstånga camping, about one hour drive from home. We rented a small little camping cabin, it had a small kitchen, bathroom and a bedroom with to bunk beds. Very small and cozy!! My brothers with families and my grandparents had also rented a cabin and my parents were there with their mobile home.

We arrived on Saturday around lunchtime. On the way over there the weather was cold and it even started to snow… Luckily it got better throughout the day. As soon as we got there Ross and Damien went up to the fishing lake. Me, Alicia and Liam meet up with the rest of the family for a little barbeque. After lunch we went for a walk with Fredrik and Nadja around the camping and visited some playgrounds. In the evening we all meet up again for an Easter dinner together. The kids got Easter eggs and we painted eggs. We had a great time and it was late before we got back to the cabin.

On Sunday Ross and Alicia went fishing in the morning and the rest of us went on a new adventure with Fredrik and Nadja. For lunch we all meet up at Mom and Dads for some really good sandwiches. We took an afternoon walk to Oden lake that was close by. In the evening we all went up to the fishing lake for a barbeque. Ross and Damien had caught a 2 kg pike (gädda) and were very excited. He really deserved to catch a fish after all those hours he spent fishing!

Monday morning it was time to back up and start heading back. Together with my parents we stopped at Skånes djurpark (animal park) on the way home. It was a bit rainy and cold but we had a great time. In the beginning of the walk they had all the farm animals – pigs, cows, cheeps, chickens and so on. Damien really liked this part and was really excited and was making all the animal sounds. You could go in to the cheeps and Damien got to pet a cute little lamb. First he got scared but the he thought it was a lot of fun! Later in the walk we got to see seals, bears, moose and many other animals. On the way home we had 3 really tired kids that feel asleep before we exited the parking lot.

Wow! Looks like you guys had a fun camping trip with your family, Linda. I can imagine that Damien and his sweet cousin really love hanging out together. The animal farm looked fun too! That's great that Damien got to say all those animal sounds with the actual animals being around. Fun! BIG fish too, Ross!

Thank you for sharing your Easter Break vacation. You guys max out every vacation you go on!! The children look like they were cold but it didn't matter because they were having so much fun experiencing new things. Ross, I see what you mean about Damien and his blue hat going down over his eyes. So cute!! I love the plastic raingear that is over the two strollers. I wish our Easter was as much fun but being put into the hospital isn't fun at all! Jamison and Harley loved visiting me because they got to throw money in a wishing well and have a snack in the hospital cafeteria! We should plan a few trips to the Reston Petting Zoo while you are here. And, also, we should plan on going to the National Zoo. I bet Damien would enjoy the Air and Space Museum. Won't be long now:)
    Love,
    Mom L
