January 21st 2012 - Our Christmas
Damien and Nadja is making gingerbread cookies for Christmas!!
A month has already passed by since Christmas. We still want to do a little blog from the holidays to update you on what we did. Since our Family is starting to be pretty big when we all come together we rented a big cabin out in Sjöbo Ora. This is located not far from where the kid’s great grandparents Asta and Göran live.
We all meet up on December 24th, which is the big day that we celebrate here in Sweden, and stayed for two nights. We had a great day with good food, games, some more food and of course Santa’s visit. We had a very special Santa this year. Cousin Nadja was really scared of Santa this year so we had decided that Grandpa Allan (who was dressed up as Santa) should show the kids that it was grandpa if the kids got scared. It ended up that Grandpa/Santa handed out all the Christmas presents and everybody was happy. The kids got so many nice and well thought out presents from everybody. Thank you!!
Damien was being really good. He walked up to Santa and got his presents, he even gave Santa a hug. He opened the first couple of presents that he got but then he wanted to play with his new toys instead of opening the rest, so we had to spread them out a little through the evening. It was a little overwhelming for him, but he did great and I think that he had a lot of fun. Throughout the weekend we would find Damien out in the kitchen eating gingerbread cookies, nuts and raisins…

We had brought Alicia’s chair with us, which we were very happy about. She could sit with us at the table and was in a good mood. She loved “Jansons frestelse” which I was a bit surprised about. This is a very Swedish dish with herring, potatoes, onions and cream. Doesn’t seem like anything a kid would eat… Alicia got so many nice presents and she was touching and feeling all the paper and new things. Alicia did really well considering that we were 19 people and the volume was really high. Most of the time she had a big Alicia smile on her face and on the second day when we were fewer people she was the regular super happy Alicia again!!

Liam slept through most of his first Christmas. He would just wake up and eat and then fall back asleep. Everybody wanted to hold him, and he was being very happy with being passed around. After we got back home he was so used to being held that we had problems putting him down when he was asleep…

tThese are great pictures! It isn't anything like I pictured. I think it was a great idea to go to the cabin/house. Hard to believe I arrived just a few days after these pictures were taken. Linda, I'm typing this and smelling the stew I made in my slow cooker! Don't you just love yours!!! Great pictures and story.
Love,
Mom L
