January 27th 2011 - Sick of being sick....
Since we got back from the States we have struggled from not getting enough sleep. At first the kids had a hard time to adapt to the Swedish time so they would wake up in the middle of the night and stay up for hours.
In the end of last week Damien got a high fever and soon after Alicia got one. Poor kids, they had really bad coughs, runny noses, hard time getting comfortable and their fevers would not go down. On Monday I took them to the local doctors office, but they could not find anything, probably just a virus. By this time Ross and I had caught the virus too. It's not easy to be sick and to take care of two sick kids....
Yesterday morning I woke up from Alicia crying in her room. I checked her if she had a fever and she did - 40,5 (104,9F). We decided that I should bring her to the emergency room right away. They ran some tests on her and they thought that she might have the flu. Her oxygen level was low and she was dehydrated so they wanted her to stay at the hospital for a few days.
Poor Alicia with her oxygen mask and an IV with fluid replacement.
She was so tired and slept all day.
Today she woke up and felt a little bit better and her fever had gone down. The test results for the flu came back negative, which was good. She still needs to stay at the hospital cause she needs oxygen and she still has the IV. She is weak but she is okey. Today they are giving her a high dose of fluid replacement and are hoping for her to feel a little bit better from that. Our hopes are to be back home on Saturday!!
Alicia today. She gave me a little smile before she feel back asleep!!
Our sweet Alicia, she is a fighter as usual!!

Dear Ross and Linda,
We are praying for you all, especially Alicia. Linda and Ross, you are so observant and thank God you were able to get Alicia to the hospital so quickly. She is such a precious angel and we hate to see her so sick. We wish we were there to help you with both Alicia and Damien, especially when Alicia is in the hospital. If you tried to call us, our electricity has been out for a day due to a very wet snowstorm. No school today and tomorrow for Northern VA. schools.
Please keep us posted one Alicia and Damien's recovery.
Love,
Mom and Dad L.
Fina Alicia

Lilla gumman!
