May 12th 2009 - At the Hospital

Alicia's seizures are a bit stubborn and are hard to get under control. It was about two months ago she started to have some seizures again after 6 months without them. The doctors have been trying to adjust her medicines and they have tried new ones as wellbut it did not help. Last Thursday they decided to do some more drastic changes and they wanted Alicia to stay at the hospital for that.

So on Friday we got admitted to the hospital and they are still working on getting the medicines right. The doctors are having some problems with getting the medicine concentration up to what it needsto be. The level has been stuck around 350 and it needs tobe at least 500. Today I thought that the seizures seemed a little bit better, but we'll see tomorrow... Unfortunately she also got an ear infection yesterday and has some medicine for that as well. I feel so sorry for her for what she needs to go through...

Luckily we don't need to stay at the hospital the entire day. We can leave after breakfast and then be back before it's time for the evening medicine and then we have to spend the night. Alicia is as usual well behaved, she is very tired from the medicined but she still has a smile on her face most of the time!!

Hey everybody. I know that medicine is a hard thing to get control of for kids. My students are always having their med amounts monitored and changed all the time. Hope all gets better and sorry that She is in the hospital so much. Keep your heads up.
    Love, Jay

Glad to hear that the seizures seem to be decreasing. We'll continue to pray for miracles.

  4. Beautiful as ever

    Dear Ross and Linda,
The pictures are as beautiful as ever. The subjects are perfect. One picture that I was confused about was the one with Crocodile Dundee, with that leather hat. He's a handsome guy that seems to be able to get into baby talk with young ones. He seems to have control of that language:) All the pictures are beautiful especially the one of Alicia and Linda, Alicia and Ross, Alicia and CD (Crocodile Dundee). The beautiful hair of Alicia is breathtaking. Only wish I was there to smell it and feel the softness.
Perhaps all of us can learn from infants that no matter what trials they go through, they still enjoy the journey. Love and pray for you all. Roger

PS This paragraph goes with the previous entry.

Linda, it is great to hear news of Alicia. She and you guys have been through a lot! They need to dedicate a room in y'all's honor:) Hope the medicine begins to kick in. Alicia is such a happy child and it is not fun having her not feeling well. I will try to call you Wednesday around 12:30 pm when I wake up at 6:30 am here. Hope to catch you at home. Have you heard from Ross? I bet he is anxious to hear how Alicia and you are doing. Take care and get some rest. Love, Mom L
