June 13th 2009 - Some good news, some bad news....

We are still in the hospital with Alicia and it's day number 10 today. On Thursday the doctors made a new EEG on Alicia. We didn't expect any changes since she still has a lot of seizures. Surprisingly it was a little bit better so she had responded a bit to the treatment. So far they hade given her a very low dose and now they wanted to dubble it, even if the EEG was better, to try to break the seizures. I guess that it makes sense, but we are a little worried about the sideeffects. Last time she felt so bad and we really hope that she (and we!!!) doesn't have to go through that again. We just hope that she will get well soon and we can bring our little koala cub home again!!

Here are some pictures of Alicia in the hospital:

Alicia is extremely photogenic no matter the occasion. She has a look that says, "Everything is going to be alright." For pictures that were taken in the hospital, Alicia makes it look like she is relaxing at a resort that hasn't been sprayed for mosquitoes yet. (see "bites" on her leg) It's great to hear that Alicia can go home for a couple hours a day with Mom and Dad. I'm sure these are the most treasured times of the day. Soon, this will be the rule and not the exception. Until then, we will continue to pray that the entire family stays healthy and well.
    Love,
    Pappa

    Hi Ross, Linda and Alicia,
Good news that the seizures are retreating on the EEG. Maybe with the increase in dosage, it will knock it out again but this time for good!
Ross, June 23rd sounds great for you to come over. A break is what you two need, eventhough the breaks can't be at the same time. Linda, we will take great care of Ross and send him back happy and refreshed...and with lots of clothes for Alicia and you! (Send the shopping list)

Thank you for sending the pictures. Alicia looks tired but rested in her daddy's arms.

    Love,
    Mom L
