April 19th 2009 - Easterbreak

The sun is out every day now and it is so nice to not have to bundle Alicia up in so many clothes. Ross had a week off of school last week so we hade great family time. On Easter Thursday we went for a new hike. We walked 10 km around a lake called Krankesjön. This lake is one of the most famous bird lakes in Sweden and a lot of people come out there to watch and study the birds. Alicia liked thehike. She slept a lot but she was really happy when she was awake. She had a little suprise for us... We have been trying to teach her to say Mamma, and all of a sudden she said it. Ma-ma. It was the sweetest word I have ever heard! It was so great to hear that she can copy what we say!!!

On Easter Friday the whole family met up at my parents house and we had a great time as usual. Good food and a lot of fun!

This Thursday Alicia and I went swimming. We haven't gone for a couple of weeks, so we both really enjoyed both the swimming and the talking with other parents afterwards.

We have finally found out that Alicia got in to a daycare. It is called Katthultand is a part of a big daycarecenter about 10 minutes walk from our cando. There are 4 teachers working with 6 kids. The people that already work with Alicia at Habiliteringen come in there and show them what to work on with Alicia. She will get more intense training there and hopefully it will be very positive for her development. We also think it will be really enjoyable for Alicia to be around a lot of new friends. Alicia will go there for one year and then after that the teacherswill help us to figure out what would be a good next step for Alicia!!

All I can say Miss Alicia, is that you have no choice but to love the outdoors with your "tree hugging" parents. :) Looks like you loved the fresh air and catching a ride on daddy's back.

Your hair is getting long & you are looking so beautiful and grown up!

    Love you!!! xoxo

Congrats on your 1st words Alicia. I know that there will be many more to come. And maybe next time Val and I make it to Sweden we can visit the bird lake since Val likes to do stuff like that. Love, Jay

    Hi Ross, Linda and Alicia,
Great pictures and story about your Easter break. Alicia gets a lot of stimulation from being outside and experiencing the sounds of Spring. I bet while she was awake, she made a lot of sounds showing her enjoyment! Ross, you are strong to carry her 10 K! SueLynn says she has the camping backpack for you guys to take. That will make the hikes a little easier, I think.
We just got back from a couple of days at Nags Head. Jamison had a Carina moment when she was unexpectantly hit by a wave breaking close to the shore. Craig grabbed her but she definately knows what it is like to "wipe out." No tears, however. I think she was too shocked to say or do anything! The water temp was 51F. COLD!
Can't wait to hear the news from the doctor. Hope they adjust her medicine to the right amt. soon. She is just too cute and you can tell she wants to learn more and more.
    Love,
    Mom L
