February 18th 2009 - Budapest Day 4

Super Bowl Sunday was a little slower than the previous days. We decided to stay on our side of the Danube River on the Buda side and check out the old town and Castle Hill.
We woke up at 7:00, but luckily Alicia fell back to sleep until 10:00 at which time we had some Hilton breaky.

We had decided that we were going to try Alicia out on with the baby backpack. It was a good idea and a great area to use it, but unfortunately it was snowy, cold and windy. With the stroller we were able to cover Alicia up, but now even though she was all bundled up she was more exposed to the elements.

After giving Alicia another feed we walked to the Royal Palace. Inside the Royal Palace they had an art museum, a library and a history museum. We choose the history museum to saunter through. The museum was not the best we have been to and the exhibits were not well organized, but it was nice to get out anyway.

When we got back outside in was snowing pretty hard. It did not accumulate so much, but the ground was white. It was beautiful to be able to look out from the castle and overlook the whole city with a white backdrop.

We strolled back towards the hotel and found a cozy cafe where we gave hungry Alicia a bottle and Linda and I split a bowl of goulash soup (Hungarian specialty) and we each had a beer. The cafe was a modern looking cafe pretty trendy with orange walls and abstract metallic art hanging from the walls.

We were pretty tired when we got back and we knew we had a big night ahead of us so we took a nice two hour nap.

At 19:30 we woke up and played a little with Alicia and had a warm drink. At about 21:00 we started down to Champions Sports Bar and anxiously awaited the start of the Super Bowl. Alicia and I were both wearing our Redskins jerseys. I had my Sean "Alicia" Taylor jersey and Alicia had here Cinton Portis jersey on.

Ready for Superbowl!!

When we got down to the bar, which was only about a 15 minutes away and took Alicia out of the stroller everyone in the bar seemed to smile, because Alicia looked so cute.
While we waited for the game to start we sat and had a couple of really good appetizers and some cold beer to wash it down. The bar started filling up at about 12:00 for the 12:30 start. The bar was nice with flat screen TV's at each table, but the bar was not very conducive to mingling with others. It was really interesting to see how the Hungarians watched the NFL. It seemed like they cheer big plays no matter who was making them. There were a couple of people who had NFL jersey's on. I saw an Aprian Peterson, a Troy Polamalu (Linda calls him the guy with the hair) and of course a Tony Romo (every country has their Cowboys fans it is like a disease).

At half time Linda started to get tired and we thought it would be best to go back to the Hilton and watch the rest of the game.
Surprisingly we were the only people at the hotel watching the second half of the game down in the closed bar. I had fun talking with Linda and a tired Alicia. The game seemed like it was going to be a blowout and we knew that we had a big day ahead of us the next day so Linda took Alicia to bed. Luckily I stayed up and was able to watch one of the best Super Bowls in NFL history.

I think both boys have not spelled that country's name correctly. Oh well, they still are great teachers! Mom
