November 9th 2009 - Still moving forward...

Finally it's Monday and Daddy will come home! He has been in Istanbul, Turkey for a confererence and has been gone for a whole week. We missed him!!!

Alicia and I spent most of the week on the couch with bad colds. Alicia was doing better today so he is back at daycare but I need to recover for a few more days.

Things are still moving forward for Alicia. She is getting so much stronger. We don't have to support her as much when she is trying to sit up. She has most of the strength for it but we are still working on the balance.

This week I have been trying to have her in a stand up position. She doesn't lock her knees, but if we practice a lot maybe she will understand how to do it in time. Her is a picture of her standing, she looks so tall....

Another new thing she did yesterday was that it seemed like she was answering when I called her name. She was in her walker and I sat on the couch. I called her name and she answered me. I repeated it five or six times and she did it every time. Then my Dad called her a couple of times, and then my brother and she answered both of them as well.

I'm so proud of my little princess and it is so exciting to see her getting stronger and developing more skills. She is my sunshine!!!

What a wonderful picture of Alicia. We generally see her lying down or being held. My, she is getting so much bigger! And I believe you are right, if you teach her to lock her legs, she will eventually be able to do it herself. The walker must also be very helpful with this. But the best news is she recognized her name and answered to it. There is a lot going on there!!! Alicia is absolutely beautiful!! Great job, Linda and Ross!

I am going to be in Pennsylvania at a conference from Monday thru Thursday. It will be hard to get a hold of me but you can always send me a message on my email! I will have my phone but it will be on vibrate during the conference and I may not feel it.
    Love,
