May 29th 2009 - Alicia´s update!

Alicia is finally doing better. It seems like we are on the right track with the medicine now. She has a lot fewer seizures and they are much weaker than they have been. The medicine concentration in the blood is slowly going up and we can finally belive that it is going to be good!

We started to have problems with giving Alicia her medicine last week. We use to mix the fluid medicine into her formula and that has worked out great for a long time. All of a sudden last Thursday she refused. We tried to get her to take the medicine for an hour and a half. It finally worked but it was a struggle and there were many tears both from Alicia and Mommy. I spoke to the doctor about it and they have now giving us the medicine in capsules so we can put it on top of some applesauce. She doesn't love this either but it works a lot better.

Alicia is starting to be herself more and more again. She has been so sleepy from the new medicines but she is more and more awake now. It's so nice to see her having some energy, playing and laughing. She loves sitting in her jollyjumper and listening to music!

Last night she was trying to roll from her stomach to her back. She learned to do this before she had the seizures but then she stopped. Last night she just kept on rolling. I put her on her back and she rolled over to the stomach. Then she tried to roll to her back again, I helped her a little bit and then she got over. She kept on doing this over and over again.

Alicia's hair is getting curlier and curlier every day. She is Daddy's girl!!

Here you can see Alicia in her Bumbo seat. She sits really well in it as long as she's not to tired. Next to her is one of her favorite toys - Tellitubbies.

Ross was off of work on Thursday and Friday last week. One of the days we went to the pool with Alicia. Unfortunatly she was a bit tired, but we still had a good time. Here is a video of Alicia and Daddy.

Alicia has beautiful curly hair. She was such a pleasure to watch in the pool with her daddy. As soon as I woke up I was blessed with such a beautiful granddaughter swimming in the pool. I told Mom that Alicia could not have any better parents. You guys are really bonding and actively involved with your child's development. I commend you for your dedication. Happy to hear that her health is improving, her physical growth is progressing and she is taking her medicine. Love the pictures but hate not being able to hold her everyday. Always kiss Alicia for Memere and me, daily. We love you all, Dad

First, congratulations, Ross for 100 games of footy! We are proud of your enthusiasm and love for the sport!
Alicia, you are quite the swimmer girl! Even tired, you love to swim. Can't wait to see you in less then a month at our pool. Hopefully by then it will be warm. We have had rain all week and no one has gone to the pool.
Alicia, I love your curly hair. Not quite as curly as your father's but give it time. Maybe she will have curly hair luck her cousin Ursula.
Linda, thank you for learning how to do the videos. The pictures are great but the videos are priceless.

    Love,
    Mom L
